Thursday, June 5, 2008 Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project’s annual awards gala serves to honor individuals who have showed significant service and dedication to WRHAP’s mission and community at the Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier. Current honorees include Macy's, Richard Espinosa, and Bruce Bergthold. Previous honorees include Doris Wahl, Michael Weinstein, Rev. Gina Chapman, Supervisor Don Knabe, Dr. John D. McCarthy, Jim Shepard of the B.C. McCabe Fund, and Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. Held in one of the area's most scenic country clubs, Celebration of Life includes an awards dinner and a silent auction. Previous Celebration of Life Awards This past June, WRHAP held its 6th Annual Celebration of Life Awards to honor those individuals who have significantly impacted our community and the people we serve. The evening began at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail party and silent auction, followed by an awards ceremony and sumptuous dinner. All proceeds raised from the evening support our services for men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, as well as the youth programs at Christopher Wahl Youth Center.
