Founder's Award |
The recipient of the Founder’s Award was the Whittier Area Community Church. The Founder’s Award is given to organizations and individuals who have shown leadership and a can-do spirit in advancing the wellbeing of people living with HIV/AIDS. The Whittier Area Community Church has actively taken part in helping WRHAP's mission through the generous donations of food pantry items, hygenie kits and educational support for WRHAPS HIV/AIDS infected clients while continuously donating time and support to the daily operations of WRHAP. |
Community Partnership Award |
The recipient of The Community Partnership Award was the Liberty Hill Foundation. The Community Partnership Award is given to organizations that have a strong community partnership with WRHAP. The Liberty Hill Foundation believes in change, not charity and has been a lead supporter in changing the lives of many infected with HIV/AIDS and leading the way to help in the prevention of new HIV/AIDS infections. |
Christopher Wahl Youth Scholarship |
Each year through the generous donation of Drs. Steven and Mary Sherman, the Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project presents the Christopher Wahl Scholarship Award to an individual who has shown a great determination to gain a high school education and continue the pursuit of higher education although many obstacles have stood in their path throughout the years. This year's receipent of the Christopher Wahl Scholarship Award was Frontier High School student Danielle Drake. |
Special Recognition |
A special recognition was given to WRHAP's own gay men's group, The Phoenix Project for their ongoing support of the agency. Through their dedication, the Phoenix Men have not only raised funds to help support the organization, but have also raised the awareness of HIV/AIDS to thousands of gay men throughout Los Angeles County. |
