The 7th Annual Celebration of Life Awards |

Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project (WRHAP) and the Christopher Wahl Youth Center hosted the 7th annual Celebration of Life Gala and Awards at the beautiful Friendly Hills Country Club on Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 6 pm – 10 pm. The theme was reminiscent of the Swing Era and old Hollywood Glamour, and was full of fun, food and live entertainment while honoring those in the community who work hard to eradicate HIV/AIDS. |

Founder's Award |

The recipient of the Founder’s Award was The Honorable John Duran, former Mayor of West Hollywood, California. The Founder’s Award is given to organizations and individuals who have shown leadership and a can-do spirit in advancing the wellbeing of people living with HIV/AIDS. Mayor Duran, who grew up in Santa Fe Springs, has been a prolific human rights activist for over 20 years and has been unswerving in his commitment to bettering the lives of people in Southern California. |
Community Partnership Award |

The recipient of The Community Partnership Award was the Whittier Daily News. The Community Partnership Award is given to organizations that have a strong community partnership with WRHAP. The Whittier Daily News has always shown courage in its reporting and has always supported and reported the fight on HIV/AIDS and WRHAP’s mission and programming. |
